Campaign Story

* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.

Goals for My Fundraiser:

Supporting my capstone project

*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.

What is ‘Solar Flex’

Vehicle Retrofit Innovation

Components:

A project dedicated to retrofitting conventional vehicles with solar-powered systems to reduce emissions. it combines detailed cad design with market research and prototype testing. components

Why I am pursuing this project (My why)

  1. I am a ‘Initiator’ personality type person with strong ‘entrepreneurship’ business potential.
  2. I’m using my passion for environmental engineering and my awesome skills in CAD design to create a project that reduces pollution. I’m all about sustainable design and want to make a real difference in aerospace or car industries. Basically, I’m on a mission to save the planet, and I’m doing it one cool, eco-friendly design at a time..

My plan of action: Competitions and Activities

Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:

TSA – Technology Student Association focuses on STEM and engineering, providing hands-on projects and competitions that build practical CAD and technical design skills.

DECA – DECA prepares students for business entrepreneurship and marketing with a strong emphasis on leadership, decision-making, and innovative business strategies.

Competitions

TSA – Manufacturing PrototypeThis introductory TSA competition aligns with building hands-on prototyping skills, essential for developing the Solar Flex vehicle retrofit concept. It teaches design, fabrication and the use of computer integrated manufacturing which form the technical skills needed for the project.

DECA – Business Plan Competition

This introductory DECA competition focuses on developing a business and financial strategy. It is well suited to refine the commercialization aspect of the Solar Flex project and helps integrate a strong market perspective.

TSA – Senior Solar SprintThis advanced TSA competition directly aligns with the Solar Flex passion project by challenging students to design, build, and test a solar-powered vehicle. It leverages advanced technical, creative, and competitive skills to push the project further.

DECA – Entrepreneurship Innovation ChallengeThis advanced DECA competition encourages creative problem-solving and strategic planning in a business context. It is ideal for refining the commercialization and scaling strategy of Solar Flex, transitioning from a prototype to a market-ready innovation.

Community Service:

Renewable Energy Awareness Workshop

Why it fits: This community service activity engages local residents in understanding renewable energy and sustainable vehicle innovations, directly linking to the Solar Flex project vision.

Implementation: Planned for Year 1 Spring, the student will organize a workshop in zip code 30143. Preparations include collaborating with local experts, setting up interactive demos, and using the workshop to educate the community while gathering feedback on the project.

Skills Development: Public speaking, community engagement, event planning, technical demonstration, leadership
